I have been organising seminars for Ju-jitsu Federation of Slovenia for some time now. Each year I face the same dilemma. Who to invite? Of course, I know several trainers, but it is always nice to meet new people with different approaches and skills. There is big offere of trainers and practitioners of many ju-jitsu styles, but how to select and choose. Their belt degrees are one way of looking at it, their sport results other... but at the end of the day a recommendation from fellow co-fighters is probably the best way.
I would highly recommend the following people I have seen at work and trained with in the past:
Uwe Claussen, 6. dan JJ and master of other martial arts (JKD, Kali, Escrima, submission...), he is form Schwerin, Germany;
Bert van Haren, 6. dan JJ from the Netherlands; national coach and instructor at JJIF seminars;
Gorazd Toplak, 6. dan JJ from Ljubljana, Slovenia; coach of 2 world champions and expert in police tactics.
This year I have invited two other trainers for who I believe that will meet all my expectations and more:
Joachim (Joe) Thumfart, 6. dan JJ (BJJ, Arnis...), from Pforzheim, Germany
Ignaz Hizman, 7. dan JJ, 3. dan Karate, 2. dan Judo, from Moosbrunn, Austria
